Effective
May 1, 2005, these are the only overhaul packages that I will offer. Our
refinishing is the best in the world. All plated finishes are clear coated
for ease of maintenance and durability. Instruments are carefully polished
and NOT excessively buffed. Expert dent removal is done, and the keywork is
swedged tight. Tone holes are hand leveled using diamond faced tools.
Original engraving is re-cut by hand, and additional engraving may be added
at extra cost. Be sure to read the Overhaul FAQ, and feel free to contact me
with your questions.
HERE’S WHY OUR OVERHAULS
ARE DIFFERENT FROM WHAT YOU CAN
GET AT YOUR LOCAL MUSIC STORE OR
TECHNICIAN!
We do
things VERY differently! We have equipment that your local store or
technician does not have. n addition to our overhaul and restoration
business, we also design saxophones and fabricate the necessary custom parts
right here in our own shop. If you will take a moment to visit the websites
and catalogs of many of the major manufacturers of repair tools and
supplies, you’ll find many products which were designed and developed right
here in our shop. We also have the world’s LARGEST inventory of vintage
saxophone parts that we reserve for our overhaul customers. We maintain an
inventory of keys, necks, and body parts that have not been made for years.
Many of the repair supplies used in our overhauls are made specifically for
us and are available nowhere else. Since 1972, we have confined our work to
strictly vintage and professional grade instruments, and have experience
that your local technician lacks. We pay attention to the small details, and
have the requisite playing expertise to be able to tell if your horn plays
its best. We believe very strongly that if the technician does not possess
superior playing skills, the technician will never be able to tell if the
horn is “right”.

SHE’S A RAINBOW
We can
lacquer your horn virtually any color or combination of colors, your
imagination and budget being the only limitations. Transparent tinted
lacquers in any hue are available, as are mirrored and “switchback”
finishes. Of course, original lacquer colors for your instrument are
available as well as original color key felts and original style bumpers and
key feet. You may combine any of the overhaul features listed above that are
appropriate for your instrument. There is, of course, a wide variation in
pricing dependent on the finish selected.
